A former Head of Service in Ondo State, Kayode Ogundele, has described the civil service of any state as the engine room of governance, which must be given special attention.
Speaking at a programme in his honour in Akure, the state capital, Ogundele said he was not bitter about his removal as state Head of Service.
The gathering was made-up of members of the Ikare Think-Tank, involved in championing the need to end the communal crisis in Ikare-Akoko, Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
They came to honour one of their own, Kayode Ogundele, who recently retired as the state Head of Service.
In his speech, Ogundele said he left the state civil service better than he met it.
According to him, the civil service remained the engine room of any government.
Some members of the think-tank stressed the need to sustain the peace in Ikare-Akoko.
They also wanted members to work with the state government to bring rapid development to the community.
