Governor Otu Orders Immediate Suspension of Cross River Assembly Commission

March 19, 2024 1 min read

The Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, has directed immediate suspension of Cross River State House of Assembly Commission.

Governor Bassey Otu informed the House of Assembly of this through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh, in a letter dated March 18, 2024, which was read on the floor of the House of Assembly by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem on March 19, 2024.

The governor stated that the suspension became necessary following the House of Assembly Commission’s failure to reveal the correct seniority order of the eligible staff members for the position of Clerk of the House of the Cross River State House of Assembly.

“The unfortunate outcome was His Excellency, the Governor’s misguided selection of Mr. Patrick Edi over Mrs. Catherine Ubi and the ripple effect this has caused,” the letter reads.
