Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of Mrs Salawu Olaide Oluwatoyin as the Deputy Rector of the Polytechnic, Ibadan.
In a statement from the institution, the Registrar, Mrs Modupe Theresa Fawale, announced the appointment of Mrs Salawu as the Deputy Rector.
This follows her election last October and subsequent approval by the state government on 10 January, 2024.
The statement noted, “Following your victory at the Deputy Rectorship election held on Wednesday, 25 October, 2023, along with ratification of same by the Board of Studies and approval by the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology on behalf of the Governor of Oyo State vied a letter with Reference Number C.2479/36 dated 10th January, 2024, I am pleased to convey your appointment as the Deputy Rector of the institution for a tenure of two(2) years.”
The Deputy Rector will be responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration of the institution and as the Rector may assign duties to her. The appointment takes retrospective effect from 1 November, 2023 and terminates on 31 October, 2025.
Mrs Salawu Olaide Oluwatoyin (Nee Alade), an Indigene of Ibadan, Oyo State was born over 50 years ago. She joined the services of The Polytechnic, Ibadan on 20 September, 1993 as Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
Mrs Salawu attended Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Ibadan from 1979 to 1984 and cut her teeth in tertiary education at The Polytechnic, Ibadan from 1985 to 1987 where she obtained a National Diploma Certificate in Statistics.
