Ahead the forthcoming bye-election in Akoko North-East/Akoko North-West Federal Constituency of Ondo State, youths of the federal constituency said they had thrown their weight behind the aspiration of Ife Ehindero, to represent the constituency in the National Assembly

Ehindero, a son of a former Inspector-General of Police, Sunday Ehindero, is contesting the bye-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

The seat of the federal constituency became vacant in the House of Representatives, following the resignation of the former lawmaker, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who has been appointed the minister for Interior by President Bola Tinubu.

To this end, the Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed February 3, 2024 for the bye-election in the federal constituency.

Speaking on Friday at a rally held for the aspirant, in Ikare-Akoko, the headquarters of the Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state, the President of Akoko North-East Youths , Mohammed Kazeem, said that the development of the local government was paramount above any other interest.

He urged the people to vote for Ehindero in the election, saying the aspirant was capable of replicating the achievement of Tunji-Ojo in the area of development.

“The interest of my local government is a priority. We saw what Honorable Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo did for our people, and we trust him to give us a candidate to continue the good works. Ife Ehindero has proven to be the best; we will support him to win”, he said.

Another youth simply identified as Excel said Ehindero had contributed a lot to the education of students in the federal constituency, hence the need to support him.

While addressing the people at the rally, Ehindero emphasised the need for a competent hand to continue where the former lawmaker, Tunji-Ojo stopped as a representative of the people in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
