Ekiti LG Election: APC Sweeps All Councils

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has swept the polls in the entire 16 local government and 22 local council development areas of the state.

According to the results announced today in Ado-Ekiti by the Èkiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC), APC won all the 38 chairmanship and 177 councillorship seats in Saturday’s council elections in the state.

Chairman of the commission, Justice Cornelius Akintayo (Retd) commended the Ekiti electorate for the peaceful conduct of the poll.

He also gave the political parties that took part in the election a pat on the back for their display of sportsmanship; the field staff of the commission; security agents and the media for a job well done.

Justice Akintayo listed political parties that participated in the election to include Action Alliance (AA), Action Democratic Congress (ADC), African Democratic Party (ADP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Others, according to him, were Labour Party (LP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

Justice Akintayo was joined by EKSIEC commissioners and principal officers at the presentation of the results.

The major opposition parties including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) declared participation in the elections.
