12 suspected kidnappers apprehended, arms recovered

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant successes in its efforts to combat violent crimes, with the arrest of 12 suspected kidnappers and 3 gun-runners, as well as the recovery of arms and ammunition across several states.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, these successful operations were made possible by credible intelligence, demonstrating the commitment of the Force to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

On April 25, 2025, operatives of the FID Special Tactical Squad (STS) in collaboration with operatives of the Taraba State Police command, local hunters, and vigilante groups arrested four suspected kidnappers in Mararaban Abbare, Lau L.G.A., while they were planning an operation.

The suspects were found in possession of 2 AK-49 rifles, 1 AK-47 rifle, six magazines, and 45 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the efforts of the operatives, saying, “The Force remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.”

He urged the public to continue supporting the police with credible and timely information.

In a series of operations, the police arrested several suspects, including Shehu Ibrahim, Abdullahi Haruna, Yusuf Bello, Mohammed Bako, Sulaiman Mohammed, Tijjani Bello, Muhammed Umar, Adamu Ibrahim, Solomon Nathaniel, Haruna Adamu, Isa Ibrahim, Sani Liman, Murtala Magaji, Bajo Badun, Magaji Abdullahi, and Ishiyaku Ali.

The suspects were found in possession of various arms, including AK-47 and AK-49 rifles, magazines, and live ammunition.

The police will charge the suspects to court once investigations are concluded.
