Davido revealed on Capital Xtra Radio that the lady who starred as the lead in the “Aye” music video was never meant to play the role.

According to him, the original actress had already arrived on set, but her manager stopped her from appearing because she was under contract with a beauty pageant.

With the crew already at the filming location and no time to reschedule, Davido picked the actress’s make-up artist to step in as the new lead.

The decision turned out to be a masterstroke. “Aye” became one of Davido’s biggest songs, while the video has now surpassed 111 million views on YouTube.

Davido also revealed that the video’s success later caused a fallout between the original actress and her make-up artist. 😅
