The Nigerian Army has handed over the suspected killer, 23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye, to the Lagos State Police Command in the ongoing investigation into the kidnapping and murder of Idowu Christiana, a 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

The handover took place today at the 9 Brigade Headquarters of the Nigerian Army at approximately 2 p.m on Thursday.

Adeleye is accused of abducting Christiana along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road in Lagos State on August 19, leading to her tragic death.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this in a message he shared on his X handle.

“23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye has been handed over to #LagosPoliceNG by 9 Brigade #HQNigerianArmy. The handover took place today, September 5, 2024, at about 1400hrs. Investigation is ongoing,” he wrote.

The police are currently investigating the case and have assured that justice will be served.

This development brings hope to the family and friends of the deceased, who have been seeking justice for her untimely death.

The police are urged to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that the suspect is prosecuted accordingly.

The incident has sparked outrage and concern about the safety of students and citizens in the state.
