Omoyele Sowore, the Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has responded to Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25 elections, regarding his Democracy Day message to Nigerians.Previously, it was reported by INFORMATION NIGERIA that Obi joined Nigerians in celebrating Democracy Day, commemorating the annulled presidential election won by Chief MKO Abiola.Obi emphasized that June 12 represents our collective journey towards nationhood as a true democracy, despite the nation’s troubled democracy and Nigeria’s uncertain and precarious destiny. The former governor of Anambra State urged Nigerians to utilize the occasion of June 12 to return to the genuine values of a democratic nation.Obi further acknowledged that Nigerians, as well as governments and people worldwide, applauded the collective decision to recognize late Chief M.K.O. Abiola as a deserving leader for the nation. In a tweet posted on Monday from his verified Twitter account, Sowore expressed his reaction. He stated that June 12 has now become “National Opportunists Day” for individuals like Obi, who allegedly served under the late Sani Abacha.According to Sowore, Obi openly admitted to working for Abacha, managing the Tin Can Island port while the late dictator was preoccupied with assassinating supporters of the June 12 movement. Sowore accused Obi of exploiting June 12 for personal gain.He wrote: “June 12 has now become ‘National Opportunists Day.’ A @peterobi, who openly confessed that he worked for General Abacha clearing the Tin Can Island port while Abacha was busy assassinating June 12 protagonists, is also using June 12 for cruise. Wonders shall not cease! #Revolutionnow.”
