Sokoto High Court Sentences Three to Death by Hanging for Terrorism, Including Nigerien National

A High Court in Sokoto State has sentenced three defendants, including a foreign national, to death by hanging following their conviction on charges of terrorism and arms proliferation.

Justice Muhammad Nuraddeen Bello delivered the judgment, convicting Yusuf Muhammad, a Nigerien; Jabbi Alhaji Yalle; and Kabiru Muhammad. The DSS Counter-Terrorism Unit apprehended the trio on June 13, 2025, in connection with cross-border criminal activities involving arms trafficking and terrorism.

The court found all three guilty as charged and ordered the forfeiture of all monetary exhibits recovered from them to the Federal Government.

The conviction is the latest in a series of successful prosecutions by the DSS against terrorism and organised cross-border criminal networks across Nigeria.
