Prominent Yoruba media personality, Segun Akanni, named overseas admission officer in Canada

The Great Lakes College of Toronto, a Toronto-based institution, has appointed Prince Segun Akanni, the Publisher of The Drum Online Media, as its Overseas Admission Officer.

This appointment was announced in a letter signed by the school’s management, stating that the appointment will take effect from November 1, 2024, and run through October 30, 2027.

The Great Lakes College of Toronto (GLCT) is a private high school located in Toronto, Canada, established in 1978.

It stands out as one of the few schools in Ontario offering five intakes per academic year.

GLCT focuses on preparing students for higher education in North America.

As part of his duties, Prince Akanni will recruit qualified international students, assess applications and credentials to ensure they meet GLCT’s admission requirements, provide information, and respond to inquiries from prospective students and their families.

Speaking about his new role, Prince Akanni shared his strategic plans to promote the college among African-Canadians, particularly individuals from West and East Africa.

β€œHopefully, before the first quarter of 2025, we would have recruited hundreds of reputable international students,” he said.

Akanni also highlighted the college’s impressive track record, stating that the College has a very good track record, The Great Lake College is home to more than 20,000 students and 230,000 alumni with a wide variety of interests, ages and backgrounds.
