The Lagos State Police Command has said its operatives have arrested two robbery suspects, whose gang attacked guests at a hotel on AIT Road, Alagbado.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday.

Hundeyin said four locally made guns, one Toyota Corolla car, one Toyota Camry car, five live cartridges and four expanded cartridges, among other items, were recovered from the suspects.

He added that the suspected robbers had shot and injured two of the hotel guests before police arrived at the scene.

“While the Alagbado Police Division operatives were on residential patrol on Monday at about 12.30 a.m., as earlier directed by Area P Commander, they got a distress call on the robbery operation,” Hundeyin said.

“The distress call reported that there was an on-going robbery operation at a hotel along AIT Road. Operatives immediately moved to the scene to engage the hoodlums.

“Subsequently, two of the robbery suspects were arrested while others escaped. Four locally-made guns, one Toyota Corolla car, one Toyota Camry car, five live cartridges and four expanded cartridges were recovered from the robbers.

“The suspected robbers, numbering about nine, had shot and injured two lodgers at the hotel before the police arrived”, he explained.

Hundeyin added that an investigation revealed that the nine suspected robbers came from the Agbara area.

He disclosed that the injured victims had been hospitalised and were receiving treatment, while efforts to arrest other members of the gang were on-going.
