The Oyo State House of Assembly has passed a bill renaming Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, to Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleoso Polytechnic, Saki, in honor of the late elder statesman’s significant contributions to Oke-Ogun and Oyo State.

The bill, tagged “Oke-Ogun Polytechnic Saki Amendment Bill, 2024,” was passed after the presentation of the report of the Oyo State House of Assembly Committee on Education (Tertiary Institutions, Science and Technology).

The report was read by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Oluwafemi Oluwafowokanmi.

Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleoso, who passed away on September 2, 2024, at the age of 86, had a distinguished career in public service.

He served as Secretary to the State Government from 1999 to 2003 during the administration of former Governor Lamidi Adesina.

In 1979, he was elected into the Oyo State House of Assembly and later appointed Commissioner by former Governor Bola Ige.

Until his death, Chief Koleoso was the Babalaje of Saki land, a position that reflected his esteemed status in the community.

Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin, while praising Chief Koleoso’s legacy, noted that the renaming of the polytechnic was a fitting tribute to his dedication and service to Oyo State.

The passage of the bill is seen as a testament to the Oyo State Government’s commitment to recognizing and honoring outstanding individuals who have contributed significantly to the state’s development.

With the renaming of Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, to Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleoso Polytechnic, Saki, the late elder statesman’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
