Owa Obokun unveils seven-man monitoring team to oversee Ijesaland LGAs

The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Dr. Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, has launched the Ijesaland Independent Development Monitors (IIDM), a seven-man team tasked with monitoring the activities of local government areas within the kingdom.

The team, unveiled at the palace, comprises respected individuals with diverse expertise, including Dr. Adigun Adewoye (Chairman) – Consultant Statistician, Sir Ademola Aladekomo (Vice Chairman) – Computer Engineer, Dr. Olusanya Olajide (General Secretary) – Management Consultant, Dr. Oluremi Folorunso (Finance/ICT) – Chartered Accountant, Barrister Funmi Obisan (Legal Adviser), Mr. Ayodeji Odeyemi (Finance/Project Management), Mr. Tobi Adeleye (Youth/Data Analysis)

The IIDM was established in response to President Bola Tinubu’s call for close monitoring of local governments’ handling of public funds and resources, following the Supreme Court’s ruling on financial autonomy.

Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, Chairman of the steering committee, highlighted the team’s mission and introduced the members to the Owa in council.

He also disclised that the IIDM founded in response to President Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s request for close monitoring of local governments’ handling of public funds and resources in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling granting local governments financial autonomy.

During the ceremony, High Chief Adebola Orolugbagbe appealed to Ijesa elites to intervene in the impending religious conflict surrounding the Ilesa dual carriageway road project.

The event was attended by IIDM steering committee members, dignitaries, and the Owa in council, comprising traditional rulers from Ilesa.
