Osun Commences Registration of People With Disabilities

All citizens of Osun State with any form of disabilities have been directed to be registered.

The state governor, Ademola Adeleke announced this on Sunday through his Special Adviser on Special Needs, Kamil Aransi.

Aransi, who announced the commencement of the registration said the exercise would last 10 days and would attract no payment from the registrants.

Aransi stated that the exercise would commence today (Monday) and end on Friday, June 7, 2024.

He, however, did not state where and how the registration would be done.

According to him, the registration would “assist the government in knowing the precise number of people with special needs, especially in terms of wants and demands, such as physical, sensory, cognitive, and intellectual impairments.”

Aransi added that the initiative would help the government plan and cater for the persons with special needs in the state.

He further stated that the main purpose of the registration “is to be able to identify and provide necessary support for people with special needs and to create an inclusive society where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive.”
