The Ondo State Government has taken another decisive step toward actualizing the Ondo Diaspora Smart City Project with the inauguration of a technical committee by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The ambitious project, envisioned as a world-class residential and investment hub, aims to attract Nigerians in the Diaspora and foreign investors seeking viable opportunities in the Sunshine State.

The committee, chaired by the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Otunba Wale Akinlosotu, includes Permanent and Administrative Secretaries from key ministries such as Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Environment, Commerce and Industry, Physical Planning, Information, Justice, Culture and Tourism, and the Ondo State Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA).

Speaking at the committee’s inaugural meeting in Akure, Otunba Akinlosotu commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his visionary leadership and commitment to inclusive governance, describing the initiative as a major pillar of the administration’s β€œOUR EASE” agenda.

According to him, the Smart City project will stimulate economic growth through tourism, job creation, and increased foreign investment, while boosting the State’s internally generated revenue.

β€œThe constitution of this committee shows Mr. Governor’s determination to harness the potential of our Diaspora community for the growth of Ondo State. The Smart City will attract investment, promote innovation, and redefine urban living,” Akinlosotu said.

Also speaking, the Administrative Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Olakunle Ajibade, explained that the project has been in development since 2024 and represents a forward-looking step toward a technology-driven, eco-friendly urban future.
