The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Enu-Owa Division over alleged unprofessional conduct in handling a recent case involving social media influencer, Adefolarin Ayomiposi, popularly known as Mandykiss.

The directive followed the emergence of a viral video showing the influencer recording and taking photographs of suspects in police custody at the Enu-Owa Division, an incident that has generated widespread public concern and criticism.

A preliminary investigation by the Command revealed that no police personnel accompanied Mandykiss during the purported arrest. Instead, she was reportedly assisted by her online followers, who provided information leading to the location of the suspects, identified as Mrs. Akinwole Sabitu and her daughter, Miss Akinwole Oyindamola, accused of alleged cyberbullying.

After effecting the arrest, the influencer was seen recording a video inside her vehicle while conveying the suspects to the police station. Upon arrival, she handed them over to the police but went further to take their photographs within the station premises and posted them on her social media platforms. The Command described this as a breach of standard police procedure and contrary to the legal principle of presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

CP Lawal said the incident showed a clear lapse in supervisory responsibility and poor professional judgment on the part of the DPO. He therefore directed the officer’s immediate redeployment, stressing that the Command would not tolerate any conduct capable of eroding public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

He reiterated that recording or photographing suspects in custody violates established ethical standards and procedural directives guiding the management of suspects. The Commissioner also reminded all officers and men of the Command to remain professional, impartial, and vigilant while protecting the rights of both suspects and complainants in accordance with the law.

Lawal emphasized that the conduct of the affected officer does not represent the discipline, integrity, or core values of the Nigeria Police Force.

He further reaffirmed his commitment to upholding discipline and accountability within the Command and expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his exemplary leadership and continued support in promoting professionalism across the Force.
