Kwara State High Court has delivered a verdict in the infamous Offa robbery case, sentencing five suspects to death by hanging.

The convicted suspects – Ayoade Akinnibosun, Azeez Salahudeen, Niyi Ogundiran, Ibikunle Ogunleye, and Adeola Abraham – were found guilty of illegal possession of firearms, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit culpable homicide punishable by death.

β€œThe five of you shall be hanged on your neck until you are dead to serve as a lesson to others,” the presiding judge stated in her ruling.

The Offa robbery incident occurred on April 5, 2018, resulting in the deaths of 39 people, including pregnant women and police officers.

The suspects were arrested and charged to court, with Justice Haleema Salman presiding over the case.

After a six-year trial, the prosecution successfully proved its case against the defendants, leading to the conviction and sentencing.
