Omo NโOba NโEdo Uku Akpolokpolo, His Royal Majesty Ewuare II, Oba of Benin and his traditional council have denounced plans to turban Sarkin Hausawa by the Hausa Community in Edo State.
A letter addressed to the Hausa community in the state signed by the Iyase of Benin, Chief Sam Igbe, rejected plans by the Hausa community to instal any traditional ruler in the community.
The statement said

was claiming to be known as โHis Royal Highness Alh. Adamu Isah Adamuโ and describes himself as โSarkin Hausawaโ
The Oba rejected plans to perform a turbaning ceremony in which one โAlh. Danjuma Garba Binkolaโ would be installed as โGarkuwan Hausawa Beninโ on Sunday 5th May, 2024 at No. 7 Butcher Street, Off Mission Road, Benin City.
The council informed the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies as well as the general public that the planned event was a violation of Benin Traditional and Customary Law applicable to chieftaincy matters and, therefore, must NOT HOLD under any circumstances.
โFor the avoidance of doubt, the BTC wish to emphasize that as the Prescribed Authority on Chieftaincy Matters within the Seven Local Government Areas of Edo South Senatorial District, the Omo NโOba NโEdo Uku Akpolokpolo, His Royal Majesty Ewuare II, Oba of Benin has not given consent to, or approved the turbaning or conferment of chieftaincy title by whatever name called on any individual by the name โAlh. Danjuma Garba Binkolaโ; or permitted any person by the name โHis Royal Highness Alh. Adamu Isah Adamuโ to hold any such ceremony in Benin City or any other part of Edo South Senatorial District, Edo Stateโ, it was stated.
Consequently, it said the errant individuals were hereby urged to refrain from violating the sanctity of the Benin Traditional and Customary Law by cancelling the planned ceremony forthwith.
