A significant chapter in the history of Ibadanland has just been written, as His Imperial Majesty, Ọba AbdulRasheed Adewolu Ladoja, has been officially declared the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The announcement was made today following a pivotal meeting of the Kingmakers and the Olubadan-in-Council, which took place earlier in Ibadan. The council, comprising high-ranking traditional chiefs, deliberated and reached a consensus on Ọba Ladoja’s ascension to the throne.
Ọba Ladoja, a respected statesman and former governor of Òyó State, is widely regarded for his deep cultural knowledge, leadership experience, and strong ties to the people of Ibadanland. His emergence as Olubadan has been welcomed with joy by many across the city and beyond.
With this development, preparations are expected to begin for the traditional rites and formal coronation ceremony that will officially usher in Oba Ladoja as the new custodian of Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage.
The Olubadan stool is one of the most revered traditional institutions in Yorùbáland, and Ọba Ladoja’s ascension marks the beginning of a new era in the ancient city.
