OAU community jubilate over Oyeweso’s appointment as new council chair

The Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State on Saturday celebrates the appointment of Historian Professor, Siyan Oyeweso, as the new Chairman of the Institution governing council.

The event which was held at the International Conference Centre was organized by the 1978 alumni set of the Institution to which he belongs.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Professor Simeon Banire, extolled Oyeweso noting that his proven leadership skills and understanding of managing large academic establishments earned him the appointment.

Responding to goodwill messages, Professor Oyeweso expressed deep gratitude to the organizers for the honor bestowed upon him. He described his appointment as an act of divine providence and a call to service, reaffirming his commitment to advancing the university’s mission.

Among the dignitaries are; the Vice Chancellor of Osun State University, Prof. Clement Adebooye, Prof. Akin Alao of the Department of History, and Prof. Kayode Alao of the Department of Guidance and Counseling, Barr. Femi Kehinde, Mr. Bola Bolawole, former editor of the Punch Newspaper among others
