No vacuum in our leadership” – Afenifere disowns Oba Oladipo as new leader

Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and socio-political organization, has distanced itself from reports of Oba Oladipo Olaitan’s appointment as its new leader.

This development comes after the passing of Pa Ayo Adebanjo, a highly respected leader of the organization.

According to Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, “there is no vacuum in the leadership of Afenifere.”

Ajayi emphasized that Chief Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti remains the recognized national leader of the organization, who is “not only hale and hearty but also providing the requisite leadership”

Ajayi questioned the legitimacy of Oba Olaitan’s appointment, stating that “in a situation where there is no vacuum, how do you talk of filling a vacancy that does not exist?”

He further noted that Afenifere has a established procedure for appointing its leaders, which was not followed in Oba Olaitan’s case.

The purported appointment of Oba Olaitan was announced after a meeting attended by delegates from the six South West states and some North Central States.

However, Afenifere has denied recognizing Oba Olaitan as its new leader, emphasizing that the organization is still mourning the demise of Chief Ayo Adebanjo.
