Nigeria’s First Female Major General, Kale Laid To Rest

Nigeria’s first female Major-General, Aderonke Kale, who died on November 8, 2023, has been laid to rest.

Her son, Yemi Kale, who is also a former Statistician- General at the National Bureau of Statistics, revealed this in photos shared on his X handle.

According to funeral arrangements made available by Yemi, the internment was done on Friday at St James Anglican Church, Mobalufo, Ejirin Road, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

The reception took place on Saturday at the Omolayole Hall, University of Ibadan International Conference Centre.

PUNCH reports that Kale, who died at the age of 84, was the first female officer to be promoted to the rank of Major General in the Nigerian Army and in West Africa.

She was also the the first female Commander of the Nigerian Army Medical Corps.
