Bulama, attached to the Police Mobile Force, 41 Division in Damaturu, will face necessary disciplinary actions for his actions.

The police authorities have strongly condemned the incident, labeling it as “sad” and sparking outrage in the state.

In response to the tragedy, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi directed the Yobe State Command to keep the public informed on all developments in the case.

He tweeted, “This is sad and condemned in its totality,” he said. “The inspector has been arrested, and necessary disciplinary actions and due investigation will be done.

“We pray for the repose of the soul of the deceased while we commiserate with his family and friends.

“We have directed the Yobe command to constantly update the public on this case.”

In a statement, the Command’s spokesman, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, revealed that the incident happened on September 29, 2024 at about 18:20hours.

The statement partly read: “It was revealed that on September 29, 2024, at approximately 18:20 hours, Inspector Mohammed Bulama, 38, was involved in a heated argument with Abdulmalik Dauda (aka Baksha), 39, of Pompomari Ward, Damaturu, over an unresolved transaction at the Zango Area.

“The dispute escalated into a physical altercation, during which Bulama allegedly stabbed Dauda in the chest. Bulama also sustained head injuries during the confrontation.

“Bulama was promptly arrested at the ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters, where he had sought refuge. The state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has commenced an investigation, and Bulama is currently in custody pending internal disciplinary action and prosecution.”
