NCC Sensitises Mobile Users on Consumer Rights

October 16, 2023 2 min read

National Communication Council (NCC) has taken what it called β€˜protect and inform’ advocacy to consumers and subscribers of communication networks to the people of Kebbi.

In an interview with journalists shortly after the advocacy session, the Director of Consumers Affairs Bureau, Abdulkadir Abubakar Umar, said that one of their core mandates was to protect the consumers, inform them and protect them to know their rights and obligations as consumers and subscribers.

β€œWe have a saying at the NCC which says, take advantage of NCC, so that no one will take advantage of you, basically this is why we are here to meet the people of Kebbi,” he said.

Alhaji Umar explained further: β€œwe have come to inform them, educate them about the services and what the NCC is doing to protect their right, as we have over 220 million subscribers in this Country.”

Earlier, the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Illiyasu Bashar, who was represented by the Galadinma Gwandu, Alhaji Ibrahim Bashar stated that the importance of communication could not be over-emphasised, pointing out that communication played an important role in modern day life.

He, therefore, appealed to all stakeholders in the communication industry to always be alive to their responsibility by making sure that subscribers got value for their money by making all networks across the country serve their customers adequately.
