The Lagos State Government has expressed its readiness to host the maiden edition of the South West Games, scheduled to take place from March 26 to 28.

This announcement was made by Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Special Adviser to the Lagos Governor on Media and Publicity.

According to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the South West Games will provide a platform for athletes from the six states in the region – Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti – to compete in various sports activities.

The games will be held at several venues, including the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Rowe Park, and Yaba College of Education.

Governor Sanwo-Olu assured the organizers and participants that the Lagos State Government will provide safe and adequate sporting facilities for the games.

He emphasized the importance of the event, stating that it will serve as a rallying point for enhancing social inclusion, youth engagement, and healthy rivalry among the participating states.

The Governor’s statement was made during a courtesy visit by the South West Games 2025 Committee, led by its President, Dr. Olanrewaju Alfred, at the Lagos House, Marina, on Friday.

During the visit, Governor Sanwo-Olu was presented with a customized jersey.

The South West Games is expected to bring together talented athletes from across the region, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their skills and compete with their peers.

With the Lagos State Government’s commitment to providing excellent facilities and support, the games are poised to be a resounding success.
