Lagos State lawmaker, Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji, representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 01, has strongly condemned the murder of Prince Kazeem Ademola Akinloye, the son of the Ojomu of Ajiran land.

During a recent plenary session on Tuesday, Hon. Temitope expressed deep concern over the escalating security challenges in Lagos State and urged the Government to adopt a more proactive approach to safeguarding citizens’ lives and property.

He said, β€œThe security agencies, though putting in their best, are not as effective as we expect.”

He emphasized that the primary responsibility of the Government is to ensure the safety and security of its citizens, highlighting that current security efforts have been inadequate.

To address this, Hon. Temitope advocated for empowering the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps to enhance intelligence gathering and overall security measures across the state.

This call to action comes amidst rising security concerns in Nigeria, where insecurity has been a major issue.

The country has witnessed various forms of violence, including Boko Haram activities, banditry, kidnapping, and ethnoreligious conflicts.

Experts have identified factors such as institutional weakness, material inequalities, and unemployment as contributing to the insecurity.

However, Hon. Temitope hopes to create a safer environment for Lagos residents.

His proposal to empower the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps aims to improve intelligence gathering and enhance overall security efforts.
