Just In: Olubadan elevate six chiefs, including serving senator

Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, promoted six traditional chiefs including a serving Senator in the Balogun line.

The ceremony was held at his palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan North Local Government Area, on Friday.

The elevation followed the vacancies created by his ascension to the throne and the demise of the late Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Lateef Adebimpe.

The promoted chiefs include Oba Tajudeen Ajibola from Otun Balogun to Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Kolawole Adegbola from Asipa Balogun to Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Olubunmi Isioye-Dada from Ekerin Balogun to Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Dauda Azeez from Ekarun Balogun to Asipa Balogun of Ibadanland (absent but represented)Senior Chief Akeem Adewoyin from Abese Balogun to Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, Senior Chief (Senator) Sharafadeen Alli from Maye Balogun to Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland.

Oba Olakulehin urged the newly promoted chiefs to use their positions for the progress of Ibadanland, Oyo State, and Nigeria, emphasizing selflessness and dedication to humanity.

The traditional chieftaincy rites were performed by the Oluwo of Ibadanland, Chief Wahab Labosinde, who decorated them with traditional Akoko leaves.
