The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized three petrol tanker trucks in Apapa, Lagos State, for transporting edible vegetable oil.

The commission announced this in a video posted on their X handle on Wednesday.

According to NAFDAC, the oil was trans-loaded from an edible oil depot into the petrol tankers, posing a significant risk to consumer health.

The agency’s swift action comes after intelligence revealed that unscrupulous individuals were using petrol tankers to transport edible oil, compromising its safety and quality.

“This practice is unacceptable and poses a significant threat to public health,” said NAFDAC official. “We will not tolerate such negligence and will continue to monitor and enforce compliance.”

The three seized tankers are currently under investigation, and NAFDAC officials are working to trace the source of the edible oil and identify those responsible.

This operation demonstrates NAFDAC’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and quality of food products in Nigeria.

“We urge the public to report any suspicious activities related to food transportation and storage,” the official added.
