A Magistrate court in Ekiti State has granted human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, ₦30 million bail.

The court also required Farotimi to provide three sureties with landed properties within the jurisdiction.

In addition, Dele Farotimi was ordered to refrain from granting media interviews and to submit his international passport.

Farotimi, who had been remanded in a correctional center in Ado Ekiti for over two weeks, arrived at the Magistrate Court premises around 9:45 am on Friday.

The case has been adjourned until February 13, 2025.

Farotimi pleaded not guilty to the 14-count charge preferred against him by the police.

His counsel, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, filed a preliminary objection asking the court to strike out the charge, arguing that the offense of defamation was not recognized under the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
