The Igbanke General Union Worldwide has dismissed reports attributed to a faceless group claiming that Igbanke is of Ibo origin.

In a statement, the Union described the reports as unauthorized and urged the public to disregard them.

The Union affirmed that Igbanke is an autonomous community in Edo State that speaks the Igbanke dialect, a variant of the Ika language.

“Igbanke is an autonomous community in Edo State that speaks Igbanke dialect, a variant of Ika language,” the statement read.

The leadership of Igbanke General Union Worldwide appealed to all Igbanke sons and daughters to exercise restraint and avoid unnecessary commentary that may exacerbate the current situation.

“We hereby enjoin all our community members to count on the leadership of IGU Worldwide for direction in articulating Igbanke position,” the Union stated.
