Students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, on Monday staged a protest against the decision of the school management to increase tuition fees.
The students said the school increased the fees by over 300 per cent.
The protesters gathered in front of the school’s main gate, chanting various solidarity songs, thereby preventing human and vehicular movement into the campus.
The school’s student union and delegates of NANS FUTA chapter held two consecutive meetings with the school management which all ended in a deadlock.
They insisted that management must return to the status quo ante.
