A horrific incident has unfolded in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, where a mob brutally killed some hunters who were traveling for Sallah.

The victims were intercepted, and their vehicle was ransacked, revealing dane guns used by hunters.

Misinterpreting this as evidence of kidnapping, the mob burned them alive.

Governor Monday Okpebholo has condemned the act, describing it as barbaric and unacceptable.

He has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident, ensuring that justice is served and such incidents are prevented in the future.

The Governor, speaking through the Chief Security Officer, SP Solomon Osaghale, warned that no one has the right to take another person’s life.

He expressed concern over the nature of the killing and assured that those involved will not go unpunished.

As of now, four individuals linked to the killing of the 16 Northerners have been arrested.

The Governor has launched a full-scale investigation to apprehend others involved in this heinous crime.

He has also commended the Muslim communities in the state for their restraint and patience, acknowledging their role in preventing the situation from escalating further.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many Nigerians criticizing the government’s inability to curb jungle justice.

The Governor’s swift response and assurance of justice are seen as a step in the right direction.
