The Amotekun Commander in Oyo, Col. Olayanju Bisiriyu Olayinka (retd), has clarified that a circulating video of an incident is old footage from August 16, 2022, and not a recent event.

“Old video. Please disregard and stop reposting,” Col. Olayinka said, attributing the circulation of the video to mischief makers.

He emphasized the importance of verifying information before sharing, stating, “I believe people should please interrogate such videos to ascertain the truth before reposting.”

Col. Olayinka assured that the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is safe, attributing the security to the static deployment of security agencies.

“The last recorded incident of such nature happened in November 2022. Since then, no such incident has been recorded.”

He urged the public to be cautious and not play into the hands of mischief makers, saying, “Don’t let’s play into the hands of mischief makers. Such negative reportage and circulation of old videos will only glorify the terrorist. That is what they love, creating fear in the minds of the populace.”
