Akeredolu: My Father Died Peacefully in His Sleep, Says Son

One of the children of the late former governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Jnr, has disclosed that his late father died peacefully in his sleep.

Akeredolu Jnr further disclosed that the late former governor died in a hospital in Germany of prostrate cancer and not leukemia as widely reported in some sections of the media.

The disclosures were contained in a statement issued by him on Wednesday evening and posted on the official Facebook page of the late governor.

He explained that his father passed on peacefully while undergoing treatment for protracted prostrate cancer.

“With deepest regret and profound acceptance of the will of the Almighty, we announce the passing of our beloved, courageous, and compassionate father and grandfather, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON.

“He peacefully departed in his sleep at a Hospital in Germany, where he was undergoing treatment for protracted prostate cancer.”

The statement reads further, “While we are deeply saddened and devastated by his departure, we find solace in the understanding that as he transitions to eternity, he will be guided by the benevolent hands of the angels of light, with whom he resided during his remarkable and fruitful journey on Earth.

While appreciating everyone who had stood by the family and extended their support since the news broke, Akeredolu Jnr humbly requested for prayers and support, while also asking for privacy as the family of the deceased navigate through the trying period.
