As Nigeria celebrates its 64th Independence Anniversary, the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has commended the nation’s citizens for their resilience and expressed optimism for a brighter future.

In a statement issued on Monday, Afenifere’s leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, praised Nigerians for their unwavering determination despite the country’s challenges.

Authorized by National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, the statement acknowledged the struggles faced by Nigerians but emphasized the organization’s faith in the country’s potential for improvement.

“Afenifere salutes the resilience and determination of Nigerians, who have continued to strive for a better life despite the daunting challenges,” the statement read.

“Although the country is going through challenging times, there is a need to acknowledge the modest progress made since we attained independence.

“It is noteworthy that Nigeria remains one country despite the civil war and other internal crises experienced over the last 64 years. This is significant, especially when considering that some countries that gained independence around the same time have split into two or three.”
Fasoranti expressed hope that Nigeria would soon overcome its current difficulties and achieve its full potential” Fasoranti said.

He applaud the efforts made by Nigerians for maintaining a civil rule since 1999

“This is the longest period of sustained democratic governance in Nigeria’s history, and it is worth acknowledging, with the aim of ensuring it continues.

“In this regard, Afenifere calls on all political players at every level to act in ways that ensure Nigerians feel included in the democratic process by implementing policies that prioritise the welfare of the people.”

The statement serves as a beacon of optimism on Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, encouraging citizens to remain steadfast and work towards a prosperous future.
