Acting IGP Egbetokun’s Profile

Egbetokun, the Acting Inspector-General of Police was born on September 4, 1964, in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State. He joined the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.

In 1999, he was appointed as the Chief Security Officer to the then Lagos State Governor, Senator Bola Tinubu.

During his career, Egbetokun has held various positions such as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos; Squadron Commander of Mopol 5 in Benin City; Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Fraud Unit in FCT Command, Abuja; Chief Superintendent of Police (Administration) at Lagos State Command Headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos; Area Commander in Osogbo, Osun State Command and Area Commander in Gusau, Zamfara State Command.

Egbetokun obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, June 1987 before joining the Nigerian Police Force. He had briefly taught Mathematics at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering Analysis from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), a Postgraduate Diploma in Petroleum Economics from Delta State University, Abraka (2000), and a Master of Business Administration from Lagos State University, Ojo in 2004.
