The Lagos State Government has presented cheques as financial assistance to 177 households in an on-going effort to support vulnerable individuals and families.
Welcoming the beneficiaries to the presentation event held on Saturday at the Lagos State Government
Secretariat, Alausa, the Special Adviser, Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr Tajudeen Afolabi, said it was part of the agency’s responsibility to assist indigent Lagosians facing one challenge or the other.
A statement on Sunday quoted Afolabi as saying “Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is humane and has listened to the yearnings of the citizens, thereby supporting them through this laudable gesture in the form of financial aid.”
He further revealed that presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries was the first of its kind in the state and featured the largest number of beneficiaries in the history of Lagos State.
He said the beneficiaries should see the gesture as a form of palliative measure from the Lagos State government to the citizens across the 20 local government and 37 local council development areas of the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Abiola Kosegbe, said the financial aid reflected the state government’s commitment to using available resources for the betterment of its citizens.
