The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, in partnership with the Michael Atobatele Foundation, has empowered 100 students of its Skill Acquisition Centre with work tools to enhance their trade proficiencies.

As part of plans to exalt excellence in tradesmanship, the Michael Atobatele Foundation formed an empowerment synergy with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, to engage trainees of the Skill Acquisition Centre on financial literacy.

Working tools such as professional hair dryers, barbing kits with generators and sterilizers, as well as sewing machines, were also given in order to support the Micheal Atobatele Foundation on entrepreneurial development, a statement said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the annual event marking its 7th edition since inception, the Permanent Secretary, MWAPA, Mrs Oluyemi Kalesanwo, urged beneficiaries of the programme to make good use of the tools provided to effectively enhance their respective vocations as contributors towards economic growth, even as their professionalism should resonate excellence at all times.

“Participants were selected following sterling performances across skill acquisition centres in Lagos State,” the statement said.
