The National Co-Patron of the City Boy Movement, Shettima Kashim Shettima (Amir), has donated computer laptops to students across Borno State, with priority given to final-year students in tertiary institutions as part of an ongoing human capital development and youth empowerment initiative.
The presentation, which forms part of his wider empowerment programmes, was carried out on behalf of the National Co-Patron by Comrade Mahmud Muhammad, Engr. Muhammad TAG, Mustapha Salihu and Comrade Shettima Umar.
Speaking on the initiative, Shettima Kashim Shettima described education as a foundation for progress and self-reliance, stressing the importance of providing young people with the tools required to compete in an increasingly digital world.
“A laptop in the hands of a student is more than a device. It is access to knowledge, to research and to opportunities that shape the future. We must equip our young people with the tools to compete globally,” he said.
The gesture was welcomed by student leaders across the state.
The Deputy Coordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Muhammad Mamman Umar, expressed appreciation to Shettima Kashim Shettima on behalf of Borno students, describing the donation as timely and impactful.
He noted that the laptops would provide significant support for students undertaking academic research, final-year projects and digital learning.
“This kind of direct support for our academics is commendable. It shows a clear commitment to the future of Borno students and to building capacity through education,” he added.
Also speaking, the President of the Students Union Government, Kashim Ibrahim University, Comrade Abubakar Darni, thanked the National Co-Patron on behalf of the beneficiaries.
He said the laptops would help reduce the academic burden faced by students and contribute to improved learning outcomes.
“We are grateful to Shettima Kashim Shettima for remembering students at this critical stage. This gesture will go a long way in supporting our studies and preparing us for the future,” he said.
The City Boy Movement reaffirmed its commitment to its stated ideals of “Empowering the Youth, Building the Future,” stressing that education remains a critical pillar of human capital development in Borno State and beyond.
