Man Shot Dead on Introduction Day in Osun

A groom-to-be, Adebowale Toromade, was shot dead on the day of his introduction ceremony in Edunabon, Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State.

Adebowale and his family had earlier attended an engagement ceremony in Ede town with his pregnant wife.

After the ceremony, he was said to have gone to witness the swearing-in of the newly elected leaders of the Okada Riders Association in Edunabon, a body to which he belonged.

While escorting the leaders from Ile-Ife to Moro junction, gunshots were heard from unidentified persons during which Adebowale and another person were shot.

They were, however, rushed to a nearby hospital, but Adebowale was pronounced dead on arrival arrival at the hospital, while the second victim was said to be still receiving treatment.

The family was reported to have decided not to pursue the case as the deceased has been laid to rest on Saturday morning.

The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident, stating that investigation has commenced into the killing.
