The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has fired back at Governor Ademola Adeleke, urging him to stop blaming President Bola Tinubu and former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for his political misfortunes ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, the APC accused Adeleke of fuelling, promoting, and bankrolling political violence in the state while hiding behind accusations of persecution. The party described his allegations as “unsubstantiated” and a cover for his inadequacies.
“One would have expected the sinking governor to state in his needless political inciting statement session at the rally to give the reasons why he has made the State Government House a refuge for the political hoodlums who have been on the wanted list of the police and why he has been empowering dangerous political thugs with juicy political appointments,” Olabisi said.
The APC also questioned why Adeleke has been granting amnesty to political thugs serving jail terms, just days before the election. The party reminded the governor that his endorsement of Tinubu as the Accord Party’s presidential candidate for 2027 was not forced on him and does not exempt him from a free and fair contest.
“Why the worry if it is true that Governor Adeleke has done well for his state, as the forthcoming August 15 governorship election will be a yardstick to measure his claim in this regard?” the party asked.
