Two children who were abducted by kidnappers have been rescued following a coordinated operation by the Department of State Services and other security agencies in Kwara State.

The operation, which took place in a forest between Oba Isin and Owa Onire in Isin/Ifelodun Local Government Areas, also resulted in the killing of two suspected kidnappers, while several others sustained fatal injuries and fled with gunshot wounds.

The rescued children, identified as 16-year-old Fatima Azeez and five-year-old Ibrahim Azeez, are now safe and receiving medical attention. Items recovered from the kidnappers include one AK-47 rifle, one single barrel, a fully loaded magazine, a mini-solar panel, and food items.

Security sources confirmed that the operation was intelligence-driven and part of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and terrorism in the state. The success of the mission highlights the effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration in tackling insecurity.

The Kwara State Government has commended the security operatives for their bravery and professionalism. Residents of the affected communities have also expressed relief, calling for continued vigilance.
