Onyeka Nwelue has spent years on social media insulting poor people. He has called them lazy. He has called them unambitious. He has laughed at their struggles, mocked their suffering, and built a following on the back of their pain.
But when his knee surgery cost N39 million and he could only afford N10 million, he did exactly what he has mocked others for doing: he begged.
He ran to Professor Wole Soyinka. He asked for help. He received N29 million from a man he would have ridiculed if the tables were turned.
Now he wants Nigerians to applaud him for sharing this story. He wants us to see him as a man of integrity, a man who is not ashamed to ask for help. But we see him for what he truly is: a hypocrite of the highest order.
He mocked the poor for needing help. But when he needed help, he took it. He sneered at those who could not afford their bills. But when he could not afford his, he cried for help.
This is not a story of humility. This is a story of entitlement.
He is not a hero. He is a fraud. And Nigerians should not forget it.
