BREAKING 🇳🇬📱: Tinubu Orders Probe of Meta, Google, X and AI Platforms Over Use of Nigerian News Content

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission to investigate Meta, X and some generative AI platforms over alleged anti competitive practices and the unlawful use of Nigerian news content. The probe follows a petition by the Nigerian Press Organisation and will determine whether any laws, including the FCCPA 2018, were breached. Authorities said the investigation will be independent, evidence based and give all parties a fair hearing, with no presumption of guilt.
