French President Emmanuel Macron has reaffirmed France’s commitment to supporting Nigeria in tackling its security challenges, particularly the growing terrorist threat in the northern region.

Macron disclosed this after speaking with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that France stands in solidarity with Nigeria as the country confronts multiple security pressures affecting several communities.

According to the French President, the discussion centred on Nigeria’s ongoing fight against terrorism and the need for stronger international collaboration. He noted that, at President Tinubu’s request, France will intensify its partnership with Nigerian authorities and increase support for affected populations.

Macron also urged other international partners to step up their engagement, stressing that the escalating threats require collective effort and responsibility.

“No one can remain a spectator,” he said, emphasising that global cooperation is essential to stabilising the region.

The renewed commitment comes as Nigeria continues to battle insurgency, banditry, and violent extremism across the northern part of the country.
