Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday presented a ₦4.237 trillion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The presentation, which took place at the Assembly Complex in Alausa, marks the official start of the state’s budgetary process for the year. Sanwo-Olu outlined key spending priorities, including infrastructure development, transportation, healthcare, education, and continued investment in security and social welfare.
According to the governor, the proposed budget is aimed at sustaining the state’s growth trajectory, completing ongoing projects, and expanding initiatives targeted at economic resilience and job creation. He emphasized that the 2026 plan reflects the government’s commitment to consolidating gains made under previous fiscal cycles.
The Lagos Assembly is expected to review the proposal in the coming weeks, after which lawmakers will hold sectoral meetings with ministries, departments, and agencies before considering final approval.
