EXCLUSIVE: Two Suspected Coup Plotters Flee Nigeria as Military Expands Arrests

Two Nigerian military officers are reportedly on the run after being implicated in an alleged plot to overthrow the government, TheCable has learned.

Military sources confirmed that the authorities have intensified arrests following the interrogation of 16 officers earlier detained in connection with the failed coup attempt uncovered in early October.

According to insider reports, a total of 18 officers were marked for arrest, but two managed to escape and are now believed to have fled the country.

One of the fugitives has been identified as Major J.M. Ganaks (service number N/14363), an officer from the Federal Capital Territory. Ganaks, a member of Regular Course 58 of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), was stationed at Jaji, Kaduna State, before going into hiding.

The second suspect is Captain G. Binuga (service number N/167722), whose current whereabouts remain unknown.

Military intelligence sources say efforts are ongoing to track the duo and dismantle all remaining cells linked to the alleged coup network.
