The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed claims by its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, alleging that his signature was forged in letters sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) notifying the commission of the party’s planned national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Senator Anyanwu, who was the PDP governorship candidate in the November 2023 Imo State election, had alleged that some officials of the party forged his signature to communicate with INEC regarding the convention. He described the act as a deliberate attempt to undermine his office and create confusion within the party.

Reacting to the claim, the PDP, through a statement issued from its National Secretariat in Abuja, dismissed the allegation as false, mischievous, and aimed at distracting the party from its ongoing preparations for the convention.

The party clarified that all correspondences to INEC were duly authorized by its leadership and followed the established procedures of the National Working Committee. It added that the documents in question were legitimate and bore the official authentication of the party.
The PDP further reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and adherence to due process in all its affairs, stressing that it remains focused on repositioning the party ahead of future elections.

While urging its members and supporters to disregard the forgery allegation, the party maintained that efforts are underway to ensure the success of the forthcoming convention in Ibadan.
