Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has criticized Arise TV journalist Rufai Oseni for comments he made regarding the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.
Umahi described Oseni’s statements as misleading and disrespectful, accusing the journalist of spreading “damaged information” about the project’s cost and implementation.
“I was very displeased by the number of damaged information that Rufai dished out to the public. Rufai was very wrong when he said I was struggling to provide figures on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway cost. That is very disrespectful,” Umahi said.
The minister’s remarks come amid ongoing debates over the funding and transparency of the multi-billion-naira highway project, which aims to improve connectivity along Nigeria’s southern corridor.
The comments have sparked discussions on media reporting standards and accountability in large-scale infrastructure projects.
